Lindbergh, made history in 1927 after completing the first non-stop trans-Atlantic flight between two cities.\u003cbr/\u003eHundreds of thousands of revelers gathered at a Paris airfield to welcome Lindbergh upon his successful flight from New York City -- many tearing pieces of the fuselage off as souvenirs.\u003cbr/\u003eFrench officials quickly repaired the torn fabric, which remains on the plane to this day.\u003cbr/\u003eThe aircraft will remain on the floor of the museum during restoration, allowing visitors to get an up-close look at both the plane, and the restoration process.\u003cbr/\u003eThe restoration is expected to be completed by September.\u003cbr/\u003eWashington - January 15, 2015\u003cbr/\u003e1. The fact that Lindbergh, by himself, and at that time an unknown air mail pilot, conquered the Atlantic. He wasn't the first to fly the Atlantic, he was the first to do it non-stop and solo. And, really important, between two major cities. And he showed very clearly that in 1927 the technology of the nation was progressing so far that it wouldn't be that much further in the future that anybody could fly the Atlantic in an airline and that proved to be the case.\"\u003cbr/\u003e7.
