We think that half of Afghanistan's children are suffering from some form of malnutrition. I think now realistically with winter so close we have to say that what we can do is to try and mitigate a bad situation. I think we'll find that whatever happens now, there will be a humanitarian crisis.\"\u003cbr/\u003e9. Truck driving past \u003cbr/\u003eA UNICEF (United Nations' Children's Fund) aid convoy carrying winter supplies destined for the western Afghan city of Herat was prevented from leaving the Iranian border because of security fears. \u003cbr/\u003eThe Taliban claims there has been heavy bombing in and around Herat, but this has not been backed up by the Pentagon. \u003cbr/\u003eOn Monday a Taliban official announced between 50 and 70 patients had been killed on Sunday when U-S bombs hit a Herat hospital. \u003cbr/\u003eThis could not be independently confirmed. \u003cbr/\u003eThe nine trucks, carrying 16-thousand blankets for refugees, will be delayed until at least Tuesday. \u003cbr/\u003eUNICEF representative Nigel Fischer was at the border with the convoy. \u003cbr/\u003eHe said there should be a humanitarian corridor into Afghanistan where aid convoys could be safe. \u003cbr/\u003eUp to now UNICEF has sent 13 convoys into Afghanistan, mostly from neighbouring Pakistan.  \u003cbr/\u003eThe three weeks of U-S led air strikes have driven thousands of Afghans from their homes. \u003cbr/\u003eFischer estimated six (m) million people inside Afghanistan are at serious risk
