WS of beach\u003cbr/\u003eDATE: 19 September\u003cbr/\u003eLOCATION: Sydney Australia\u003cbr/\u003eAmerican pop princess Britney Spears has been stranded in Sydney for the past week, but has been making the most of her time off with a spot of topless sunbathing.\u003cbr/\u003eShe called off her worldwide promotional tour for her new forthcoming CD 'Britney' following last Tuesday's terrorist attacks in the United States.\u003cbr/\u003eBritney, who was flying from New York to Sydney when the World Trade Centre toppled, learnt about terrorist strikes upon landing.  She was on the same plane with actor Keanu Reeves and Australia's tennis champ, US Open winner, Lleyton Hewitt.\u003cbr/\u003eWhile Spears' family lives in Louisiana, her brother Bryan was in New York at the time of the tragedy.  The singer is now keen to get back to the States to be with her family and friends, as well as to begin work on her upcoming concert tour. She leaves Sydney on Thursday.\u003cbr/\u003eSpears has been effectively stuck in Sydney because of events in the US, but says she's loved being trapped in such a beautiful city, taking time out to eat and shop as well as enjoy a dip at the weekend at the world famous Bondi Beach.\u003cbr/\u003eThe singer was reliably informed that topless sunbathing is a tradition at Bondi.  In bikini bottoms and a baseball cap that appeared to lend its support to the besieged city of New York, the diminutive pop star warmed herself under the spring sunshine before a brief dip in the chilly ocean waves.\u003cbr/\u003eSpears says she'll be taking more time out this year to avoid burn-out - something which has struck others in her profession, most recently and notably fellow US singer Mariah Carey.\u003cbr/\u003eWhen she returns to the US, Spears will begin work on her new concert tour.  She says she was recently inspired by the theatricality of Madonna's 'Drowned World' Tour but says she won't be plagiarising the show and says fans shouldn't expect to see her also swinging from the rafters.\u003cbr/\u003eSpears' new self-titled CD sees her delve into rock, funk and hip hop.  She says she's influenced by a lot of music she's listening to right now - including Macy Gray's new release, 'The Id'.\u003cbr/\u003eSpears has co-written some of the tracks and there are also some interesting collaborations on her new project, including with UK singer Dido, who famously featured on 'Stan' by Eminem. Britney, a fan, had Dido supervise one of the tracks titled 'I'm not a girl, not yet a woman' because she wanted just that - a woman's touch.\u003cbr/\u003eSpears also appears to be following in the footsteps of other successful singers-turned-actresses, including Jennifer Lopez and Brandy.  She hopes to also make the transition from music to acting with an as yet untitled movie in the works.\u003cbr/\u003eThe pop star turned actress has also lent her voice to a charity record.  Asked by U2's lead singer, Bono, Spears says the project was already under way before the terrorists struck in the States.  Recording a cover of the Marvin Gaye hit 'What's Going On?' with other artists, Spears says the proceeds will now go to victims of the US tragedy.\u003cbr/\u003eBritney also intends to put some of the
