Various Cherry Holmes concert\u003cbr/\u003eIn the political arena France and the United States have little in common, especially when it comes to foreign policy. \u003cbr/\u003eBut each year a village in central France is transformed into a haven of that most American of cultures... all things country and western. \u003cbr/\u003eEach year the usually quiet, rural community hosts one of Europe's largest Country Music festivals and one of the world's largest gatherings of its kind outside the United States. \u003cbr/\u003eTemporarily renamed \"Craponne-sur-Arizona\" for the duration of the festival, the sleepy village of Craponne-sur-Arzon is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Country Rendez-vous Festival (July 27-29). \u003cbr/\u003eThe locals seem to welcome the invasion.  \u003cbr/\u003eAt 71, farmer Hilaire has witnessed many of the festivals over the years, he says it is a good way for people to meet. \u003cbr/\u003eIn the village itself, cafe verandas are turned into stages for both French and US Country artists.   \u003cbr/\u003eBenoit Wolf Pierre fronts a band called \"Howlin' Fox\". He says French Country artists use English lyrics because the music is originally from the US.\u003cbr/\u003eSome 30,000 visitors flocked to the festival this year to see Country stars including  Joe Ely, Rhett Akins and the Grammy-nominated US band \"Cherry Holmes\". \u003cbr/\u003eBand member Sandy Lee, says the music helps heal Anglo-French relations that might have been damaged due to differing political views on foreign policy. \u003cbr/\u003eArtists Stoney Larue and Trent Willmon have travelled from the US to visit the festival for the first time this year. \u003cbr/\u003eStoney Larue says he loves the food and the people of France. \u003cbr/\u003eTrent Willmon says the festival is bigger than those held in the US \u003cbr/\u003eThe first Craponne festival was held in 1987.\u003cbr/\u003eThe founder George Carrier says he chose Craponne as a location because the rolling hills of the Haute-Loire remind him of Tennessee. \u003cbr/\u003eHe says when the festival first started it attracted 250 visitors, 30,000 country music fans attended. \u003cbr/\u003eFrench artist Eddy Ray Copper was one of the the highlights of the festival line-up.\u003cbr/\u003eA hero to French Country fans he is seen as their very own Johnny Cash.   \u003cbr/\u003eFrench visitor, Gerard says he and his wife dream of going to Nashville, but could never afford to so they come to the festival instead.  \u003cbr/\u003eUS writer and Journalist Ellen Gruber is a regular to the festival. \u003cbr/\u003eShe says the French fans are really knowledgeable about American music and culture and says the event paints a positive image for the US. \u003cbr/\u003eJo Walker Meador is the founder of the Country Music Museum in Nashville and has been President of the Country Music Association for 37 years. \u003cbr/\u003eShe says she hopes more US Country stars will come to France and hopes France itself will produce more big stars in the future. \u003cbr/\u003eThis year the association
