The company says it has plans to add more products later in the year.\u003cbr/\u003eThe appliances connect to a smartphone or tablet through the Siemens app.\u003cbr/\u003eIngo Pietsch, Siemens connectivity expert, explains: \"So, connectivity from Siemens allows you to control the complete functional range of our new products, like the oven or the dishwasher, wirelessly on an app. And it is pretty comfortable actually to control all the appliances via an app because you have a bigger screen where you can really reach very simply the really large functional range of the new appliance parts,\" he says.\u003cbr/\u003eThe Siemens Home Connect app is already available for android and iOS phones and tablets.\u003cbr/\u003eThe oven itself will be available in stores in November. Siemens has not announced a price yet.\u003cbr/\u003eOver at South Korean Electronics Company LG's display, the company is showing off an updated way to communicate with home appliances.\u003cbr/\u003eLG has had a range of connected devices for some time but communication is new.\u003cbr/\u003eWith previous versions, the app would have different command buttons that needed to be pressed when you wanted an appliance, like a dishwasher, to be turned on.\u003cbr/\u003eWith their Line Home Chat function you can simply text the device what you want it to do.\u003cbr/\u003eIf you want the LG robotic vacum cleaner hom-bot to start cleaning, you simply use the home chat app to text the hom-bot that it is time to vacuum a particular room.\u003cbr/\u003eThe Line Home Chat app is already available for download for both android and iOs devices.\u003cbr/\u003eFrench manufacturer Archos has taken the connectivity out of the kitchen and in to the garden.\u003cbr/\u003eWith their connected weather station, users can get updated information about the indoor and outdoor temperature, humidity, air quality, light and ground temperature, directly to a smartphone.\u003cbr/\u003eThe data is stored on the device so you can track the numbers over the years.\u003cbr/\u003eApart from knowing when it is time to water your garden, its hard to see any real uses for the connected weather station - apart from keeping track of interesting data.\u003cbr/\u003eBut Archos marketing manager Benedicte Ernoult beilives there is a market for a connected weather station: \"We know that the market for, lets say, standard weather station, is huge. So, many people like to know the temperature in their home, in their garden. But at the moment, it is not connected so you have this information only when you are at home and you have no way to store the data. So with the application you can have access to your data whenever you want, wherever you are, even when you are not at home. So you have also a way to store all your data so you have a history of all the information of your home,\" she says.\u003cbr/\u003eSo a world of connected devices awaits us all?\u003cbr/\u003ePerhaps, but not tomorrow according to German market research company GfK.\u003cbr/\u003eAccording to a 2014 report by GfK, only 1 percent of all the appliances currently sold on the European market are currently wifi connected.\u003cbr/\u003eBut Juergen Boyny, Global Director for consumer electronics at GfK, thinks this will change in time: \"It is not the 50-year-old housewife who demands a connected washing machine, as she will tell you, 'I have used my washing machine without Internet since 20 or 30 years� But� There will be a generation who expects automatically that the technical devices are connected to the Internet.\"\u003cbr/\u003eHowever, before rushing out to get a wifi connected oven, there is the small issue of compatability, according to Urs Mansmann, editor of C'T technology news website\u003cbr/\u003e\"You have a lot of different standards,\" he says.\u003cbr/\u003e\"Nobody knows today which will be the standard of the future.
