NASA officials working on Rover model egress\u003cbr/\u003eOfficials at NASA expect the Mars Rover \"Spirit\" to roll off of the spacecraft that brought it to Mars sometime on Thursday.\u003cbr/\u003eSpeaking in Pasadena, California, where the space organisation has its Jet Propulsion Lab (JPL), Mission Manager Arthur Amador told reporters that the Rover is expected to \"egress\" west or approximately northwest and not to the south as initially planned.\u003cbr/\u003eThe reason for this, according to Amador, is the height of one of the Rover's airbags.\u003cbr/\u003eThe airbag has not reached a desirable height, thus prompting the change in plan.\u003cbr/\u003eOnce the Rover is commanded to turn to the egress direction, the final stage involves driving the Rover onto the Martian surface.\u003cbr/\u003eOn Saturday, the Rover fully unfolded itself and stretched up to its full 4-foot, 11-inch height (1.5m), making it ready to drive off
