Mid shot of SUV on the motorway\u003cbr/\u003eEnvironmental groups in the United States launched a campaign on Friday demanding environmental and safety improvements on sport utility vehicles (SUV).\u003cbr/\u003eOver the weekend, hundreds of volunteers are planning to place cards on trucks and SUV's in the Washington area in order to make the owners aware of the costs to the environment and damage to their health.  \u003cbr/\u003eA coalition of environmental groups led by the Chesapeake Climate Action Network is hoping to place 15,000 yellow tickets on sport utility vehicles in Washington, Baltimore and other nearby areas, in what they say is the biggest such action to date.\u003cbr/\u003eIn California, the government is getting involved in the nationwide dispute. State officials are considering a move to limit the use of sport utility vehicles by the state.  \u003cbr/\u003eSponsors of the plan say the state could save more than $14 million dollars a year, over a five-year period, by cutting its use of SUV's for cheaper more efficient vehicles. \u003cbr/\u003eOfficials estimate about 10 percent of the California's 73-thousand vehicles are
