The new awards for the \"exceptionally talented in music\", to be launched in September, were included in the Music Manifesto drawn up by ministers and a coalition of 70 organisations.\u003cbr/\u003eAnd the Government confirmed that all children in England would get the chance to have subsidised music lessons following the success of pilot schemes in 12 local education authorities.\u003cbr/\u003eThere will be 120 means-tested scholarships worth between £600 and £3,000 (pounds sterling) a year available in the first round for children aged eight to 16. Government officials said they expected the number to reach around 300 in 2005.\u003cbr/\u003eThe focus will initially be on western classical music, jazz and folk, but there are plans to extend the scholarships to cover other musical traditions, including those of south Asia.\u003cbr/\u003eThe music scholarships came on top of those already announced for dance, where the hunt goes on for the
