Officials have now confirmed that a...\u003c/span\u003e\n\u003cspan class='full-description hide'\u003eEng/Russ/Nat\u003cbr/\u003eDesigners of Mir have been meeting technicians and NASA officials at the Korolyov Mission Control Centre near Moscow to decide the best way of repairing the stricken Russian space station. \u003cbr/\u003eOfficials have now confirmed that a space walk will be conducted to carry out emergency repairs to one of Mir's modules which was badly damaged when it was struck by an unmanned cargo craft on Wednesday.\u003cbr/\u003eBritish-born Michael Foale lost all his personal possessions in the accident - and has asked NASA to put a toothbrush aboard a cargo craft which will take repair supplies to the Mir.  \u003cbr/\u003eCameras aboard the Russian space station, Mir, have been sending back pictures like this.\u003cbr/\u003eA graphic illustration of the damage which was done on Wednesday when an unmanned supply pod went out of control and rammed into the station.\u003cbr/\u003eShort of power, crew members on board the station have turned the hobbled craft toward the sun, hoping it can soak up some energy.\u003cbr/\u003eA Russian cosmonaut aboard the space station said on Thursday that the crew believe it would be possible to enter the damaged module in a space suit.\u003cbr/\u003eThe two Russians and British-born astronaut Michael Foale on Mir are having to cope with sharply reduced power after a solar panel was struck by the rogue resupply vehicle. \u003cbr/\u003eFoale lost his personal possessions in the accident and on Thursday asked NASA for replacements.\u003cbr/\u003eUPSOUND: (English)\u003cbr/\u003eNASA official: \"OK copy that. What about personal stuff, hygiene kit, exercise shoes, personal items, clothes.\"\u003cbr/\u003eMichael Foale (British born astronaut aboard Mir): \"I would really like to have a shaver.  The Philips shaver that Boeing does and sent for me. And I'd like to have toothbrush and toothpaste. Maybe three tubes of toothpaste. That would do it.\"\u003cbr/\u003eNASA official: \"Copy. I guess the only real question right now is (unclear). Do you know were things powered on when the power got cut? Which switches may be on? That sort of thing. \"\u003cbr/\u003eFoale: \"I turned off all equipment in an orderly fashion.\"\u003cbr/\u003eNASA official: \"Excellent.\"\u003cbr/\u003eFoale: \"The only thing I'm worried about now is the beetles. The beetles are living on batteries.\"\u003cbr/\u003eNASA Official: \"Right the batteries will last 30 days. But it won't be able to do a light pulse which is on Tuesdays.
