(Aug. 16)\u003cbr/\u003eSame-sex weddings in California are on hold indefinitely.\u003cbr/\u003eThat's because a federal appeals panel decided it wants to rule on the constitutionality of the state's gay marriage ban before same-sex couples can resume getting married.\u003cbr/\u003eThe decision trumps a lower court decision that would have allowed couples to get marriage licenses as early as Wednesday.\u003cbr/\u003eNow gay couples will have to wait until December at the earliest to get married...and that is causing some disappointment.\u003cbr/\u003eThe 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, which issued Monday's decision -- has agreed to expedite its consideration of the Proposition 8 case.\u003cbr/\u003eIt plans to hear the case in early December.\u003cbr/\u003eLawyers for the plaintiffs who challenged the ban said they would not appeal Monday's decision to the Supreme Court -- which is where many legal experts think the issue will ultimately be
