(Dec. 15)\u003cbr/\u003e[Notes:ANCHOR VOICE]\u003cbr/\u003eResearchers are sharing what could be great news in the fight against breast cancer.\u003cbr/\u003eSOT: Dr. Michael Thun, American Cancer Society: \"the good news is that in the last year that we have data, from 2002 to 2003, there was a sharp decrease in the incidents, the new rate of diagnosis of breast cancer -- particularly in women ages 55-69.\u003cbr/\u003eIn fact, about 14-thousand fewer cases were reported, than were expected.\u003cbr/\u003eAnd the best part is, they think they know WHY the breast cancer rate dropped.\u003cbr/\u003eSOT: Thun: \"it coincided with the time period right after the sharp reduction in the use of hormone replacement treatment. The warning went out in July 2002 and this reduction began in the second half of that year and speeded up over the next year. \"\u003cbr/\u003eScientists warn more study is needed to prove there's a link between the hormone usage and breast caner, but experts point out this strongly suggests the link exists.\u003cbr/\u003eSOT: Thun: \"if this is real.
