As the April 29 wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton draws closer, experts at this week's Designer Wedding Show in London offered their thoughts on how the royal event might be styled.\u003cbr/\u003eSassi Holford was among the designers at the Battersea Park event.\u003cbr/\u003eShe created Autumn Kelly's gown for her marriage to the Queen's grandson, Peter Phillps.\u003cbr/\u003eThere are certain expectations of what a royal bride can wear and not wear, Holford says - but will the stylish Middleton do her own thing?\u003cbr/\u003e\"I think it's going to be interesting with Kate Middleton because at the end of the day yes there is protocol but it's not written in stone and she's a modern girl,\" says Holford, \" is she going to break it, is she going to follow it?  Let's wait and see, I think it's really exciting.\"\u003cbr/\u003eA selection of Holford's bridal gowns were shown on the Designer Wedding Show catwalk Friday, alongside work by Matthew Williamson, Temperley London and others.\u003cbr/\u003eStands also offer brides to be and their families plenty of inspiration.\u003cbr/\u003eSilk, tulle and lace are currently proving popular fabric choices for wedding dresses.\u003cbr/\u003eOther trends for this year include combined textures, and elements that can be removed or added to change the bride's look from demure for the ceremony to glamorous for the evening party.\u003cbr/\u003eWith Middleton marrying in Westminster Abbey, Holford advises thinking big when it comes to her dress.\u003cbr/\u003e\"As a designer I would be recommending that but I think - with every wedding how big, how small, the bride has to be really happy with what she's wearing otherwise she's not going to pull the look off.
