Toyota says actions in overseas markets will follow soon. (July 5)\u003cbr/\u003e Toyota has started recalling more than 90-thousand Lexus and Crown vehicles in Japan because of defective engines.\u003cbr/\u003e  And it says recalls in overseas markets, including the U-S, will start soon.\u003cbr/\u003e  In all, the world's number one carmaker expects to recall 270 thousand vehicles, 138 thousand of which will be from the United States.\u003cbr/\u003e  The problem is with a flaw in the valve springs -- which can make the vehicle stall while in motion.\u003cbr/\u003e 6. SOUNDBITE: (English) Hans Greimel, Automotive News, Asia Editor: \"Well this of course is not good for the Lexus image. That's the kind of flagship, high quality luxury line for Toyota so it wants to keep the quality unscathed at Lexus, with something as simple as the piston rings being suspect or having those being subject to a recall, and to question just how good are these engines, that are in the top-line cars.\" \u003cbr/\u003e  This recall is the latest in a growing list of problems for Toyota.  The company has already been forced to recall more than eight million vehicles worldwide for a slew of problems -- including sticking gas pedals and defective floor mats.\u003cbr/\u003e  It was also fined more than 16 million dollars by the U-S government for responding too slowly when the recall crisis erupted in October of 2009.\u003cbr/\u003e: (English) Hans Greimel, Automotive News, Asia Editor: \"Well I think Toyota's latest recall just brings another spotlight onto the quality problems at Toyota. They have done well in eventually dealing with the earlier recalls and that just started to die down. Now this comes up again and reminds everybody about the recall issues. So it's bad timing for Toyota. In  any other year, or for any other company this might not have been a bad thing.\"\u003cbr/\u003e  The recalled vehicles were produced between July 2005 and August 2008 involving seven different Lexus models.
