The pilot was Samuel Franklyn Cody, he was an American cowboy who ran a successful Wildwest show - not to be confused with Buffalo Bill Cody - and he made enough money to indulge himself in the hobby of kites. He developed the kites to be man carrying kites, he showed them to the army, the army took them on and he went on to develop his kites into an aircraft. This was the first one. Wide shot of Airbus A380 taking off\u003cbr/\u003eOn the surface, this year's Farnborough Airshow is as impressive as previous years but beneath the aerial bravado there are some serious and seriously opulent issues.\u003cbr/\u003eThe environment, the economy, air history - and personal wealth - are all under the spotlight.\u003cbr/\u003eThe skies are filled with the sound of the most technologically advanced aircraft in the world at the Farnborough Airshow this week. \u003cbr/\u003eThis Eurofighter Typhoon is just of of the many fighter aircraft showing off its capabilities at this, the world's biggest - most keenly anticipated - airshow.\u003cbr/\u003eAside from the impressive aerial displays, environmental concerns are among the top features of the event.\u003cbr/\u003eIan Godden is the Chief Executive of the Society of British Aerospace Companies, the group that organises Farnborough. \u003cbr/\u003eHe says that the highlights of this year show include developments in recycling and fuel efficiency, as well as new aircraft designs.\u003cbr/\u003eThe F22 Raptor - a fighter aircraft that uses stealth technology and has a number of capabilities that include ground attack and electronic warfare - is just one of more advanced designs.\u003cbr/\u003eThe Farnborough Airshow is traditionally a place where billions of dollars worth of deals are made. \u003cbr/\u003eHowever, some exhibitors are more concerned with older planes.\u003cbr/\u003eDr. Ian Towle is an aircraft recycling expert from Oxford University. \u003cbr/\u003eHe is at Farnborough to help explain the possibilities for recycling aircraft that have reached the end of their life span.\u003cbr/\u003eTowle says that three are lots of different parts that can be re-used.\u003cbr/\u003eThis cross section of an aircraft was originally in commercial use in the 1970's but has now been dismantled for recycling.\u003cbr/\u003ePhil Donohoe belongs to a company called P3 Aviation. They specialise in regenerating aircraft components and returning raw materials to the airline industries. He demonstrates which parts of the cockpit can be re-used.\u003cbr/\u003eThe men in black guarding this plane have every reason to look protective. This private jet costs around �22 million GBP ($43.8438 million USD). \u003cbr/\u003eSean McGeough is from Hawker Beechcraft, the company that manufactures these private jets. \u003cbr/\u003eHe lists the plane's impressive capabilities and says that the owners of such planes are an exclusive breed.\u003cbr/\u003eThis year the Farnborough Airshow celebrates the 60th Anniversary of the first show in held in 1948. \u003cbr/\u003eThis year is also the 100th anniversary of the first officially recognised powered flight in Britain. \u003cbr/\u003eTo mark this centenary a group called the Farnborough Air Sciences Trust have built a full size replica of the British Army 1A flown by Samuel Cody a hundred years ago. (please note the replica does not fly)\u003cbr/\u003eDavid Wilson of the Farnborough Air Sciences Trust explains the story behind the replica. \u003cbr/\u003eWith the much reported global economic down dominating the news, business analysts are keen to see how it would affect orders within the multi billion dollar aircraft industry of which Farnborough is a major player.\u003cbr/\u003eIan Godden, Chief Executive of  Society of British Aerospace Companies is pragmatic about the issue and says that although orders may be down on the previous airshow, there are new and emerging markets
