Close shot of sperm sample vials inside tank\u003cbr/\u003eUS soldiers leaving bases in America bound for the Persian Gulf are leaving behind their families and friends - and now some of them are also leaving something of themselves. \u003cbr/\u003eYoung US servicemen are planning for the worst, leaving behind their sperm before they ship out.  \u003cbr/\u003eAt the California Cryobank in Los Angeles, they're relying on deep-freezing technology  to preserve their sperm. \u003cbr/\u003eThe Cryobank facility began offering the service in the 1970's as a way to help men with cancer and reproductive problems to preserve their sperm.\u003cbr/\u003eDr. Cappy Rothman, the clinic's director, says this isn't the first time soldiers have come to his facility seeking to protect their sperm.\u003cbr/\u003eMore than 10 years ago soldiers came to the facility for the same reason as they prepared to ship off to the Middle East for a possible war against Iraq.\u003cbr/\u003eRothman says most of those who use their service are young soldiers seeking to start a family or to have more children.\u003cbr/\u003eIt usually costs around $250 to collect a sperm sample and another $250 to store the sample for a year. But Rothman says they're offering soldiers who come to the clinic a year of free storage. \u003cbr/\u003eThat was the case for Theresa Henuber. Theresa's husband Erik, a US Marine Corps reservist, shipped out just days ago. \u003cbr/\u003eThe couple have two children already, two girls. But Theresa says they wanted to be sure they would have the option of having more children should anything happen to Erik while on duty.\u003cbr/\u003e\u003c/span\u003e\n\u003c/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv
