Wide of court hearing\u003cbr/\u003eThe families of victims of the Colorado theatre shooting sat through emotional testimonies on Monday from police officers who tried to save the lives of the wounded.\u003cbr/\u003eQueues of people waited outside the court building in Centennial, Colorado for the hearing of suspected gunman James Holmes.\u003cbr/\u003eOn the first day of a hearing that will determine whether there's enough evidence to put Holmes on trial, the testimony brought back the raw emotions from the days following the July 20 attack at the suburban Denver theatre that left 12 people dead and dozens wounded.\u003cbr/\u003eFollowing the December shooting spree at a Newtown, Connecticut, elementary school left 20 children and six adults dead, prosecutors are laying out their case with the nation embroiled in a debate over gun violence and mental illness.\u003cbr/\u003eDuring the court session officers struggled to hold back the tears as they recalled the events of July 20: discovering a 6-year-old girl without a pulse, trying to keep a wounded man from jumping out of a moving police car to go back for his 7-year-old daughter, screaming at a gunshot victim not to die.\u003cbr/\u003eRelatives of victims of the shooting attended the hearing to try to come to terms with what happened. \u003cbr/\u003e\"We're trying to get through this case as emotionally and mentally intact as we can as victims,\" said Jessica Watts who lost cousin in the shooting. \u003cbr/\u003eAccording to those who attended the session a bearded Holmes didn't appear to show any emotion. \u003cbr/\u003e\"He's very detached, he looks very dishevelled today.
