We are the ones that live in the shadows of these power plants that are causing the greenhouse gas emissions,\" an emotional Roberts said.\u003cbr/\u003eIn one key area, delegates at Copenhagen summit are trying to agree on how much industrialised nations should reduce their emissions of carbon dioxide and other global-warming gases after the 2012 expiration of the 1997 Kyoto Protocol, which covered 37 richer nations. \u003cbr/\u003eThe US had rejected Kyoto.\u003cbr/\u003eThe second key area involves climate change financing. \u003cbr/\u003eThat involves money for poorer nations to build coastal protection, modify or shift crops threatened by drought, build water supplies and irrigation systems, preserve forests, improve health care to deal with diseases spread by warming, and move from fossil-fuel to low-carbon energy systems, such as solar and wind power.\u003cbr/\u003eDeveloping nations are pressing the US, Europeans, Japanese and others at Copenhagen for more upfront money and for assurances about long-term financing so they can plan on a stable source for many billions (b) more.\u003cbr/\u003eDeveloping nations are asking for at least 300 (b) billion US dollars in financial support to help them deal with the impacts of climate change. \u003cbr/\u003eYet industrialised countries thus far are talking only about a quick package - three years of funding at 10 (b) billion US dollars a year. \u003cbr/\u003eObama will join more than 100 national leaders converging on Copenhagen for the final days of bargaining late next week.\u003cbr/\u003eAlso on Thursday, US delegates attending the climate change summit were defending Obama's Nobel Peace Price.\u003cbr/\u003eThe Nobel committee announced Obama had won the peace prize in October when he wasn't even nine months on the job, recognising his aspirations to reshape the way the US deals with the world much more than his actual achievements\u003cbr/\u003eAdding fresh irony to the award, Obama announced just days before coming here to formally accept it that he is ordering 30,000 more US troops into war in Afghanistan. \u003cbr/\u003eDouglas H. over that decision followed the president to Norway, where he told reporters that that the July 2011 date he set for the US withdrawal from Afghanistan to begin will not slip, but that the pace of the full withdrawal will be gradual and conditions-based.\u003cbr/\u003eNone of this has gone unnoticed, with peace activists staging a protest to coincide with the Nobel ceremonies in Norway.\u003cbr/\u003eMeanwhile, Indigenous people from across North America gathered at the US Embassy in Copenhagen on Thursday to protest against Obama and US energy industry policies.\u003cbr/\u003eThey claim these policies are endangering indigenous lands and livelihoods in the US. \u003cbr/\u003eActivists said they are most affected by fossil fuel development and nuclear energy expansion. \u003cbr/\u003eVaheeta Jones, an activist from Indigenous Environmental Network, who organised the protest, said that the message was: \"there is no such a thing as clean
