Some of the areas that it's important in are environmental and in the case of areas were humans cannot go. So as we get more parts of our world messed up and we have to be investigating them we will need someone to go there and check it out for us.\"\u003cbr/\u003e30. The gripper you can see is basically the same as a stingray so basically the way it works is that it grabs around an object without exerting too much pressure on it so it can pick up a differentvariety of products,\" says Babak Jahanbani, Festo Education manager.\u003cbr/\u003eBut believe it or not the robotic trunk is here to inspire a new generation of robot-makers.\u003cbr/\u003eAt a time when it's increasingly competitive to find a job, young people tend to think longer and harder about which profession to join.\u003cbr/\u003eWorldskills is a global competition and exhibition where young people from across the world compete and showcase their skills in their own career fields.\u003cbr/\u003eIt's also an opportunity for young people to research and identify training and career paths.\u003cbr/\u003eThe robotics area is the most popular at the show. \u003cbr/\u003ePeople from all ages and backgrounds flock to the mobile robotics stand, which was one of the most dynamic and eye-catching stalls.\u003cbr/\u003eThe mission: to prove robotics is anything but boring, and inspire young people to consider it an interesting future career path.\u003cbr/\u003eFesto's Bionic Learning Network research programme focuses on mechatronic and bionic concepts using nature as a model.\u003cbr/\u003eAnother such striking naturalistic robot is the AquaJelly - a robot in the shape of a jellyfish. \u003cbr/\u003eIt's uncanny how much it actually behaves like a real life jellyfish - but nothing is down to coincidence: the AquaJelly has been specifically designed to simulate the swarming behaviour of wild jellyfish.\u003cbr/\u003eIt consists of an electric drive unit and intelligent adaptive mechanism. The control board is housed in a translucent dome. It has a water-tight body and eight tentacles.\u003cbr/\u003eThe Aquajelly has no real function except for drawing crowds and opening their eyes as to what robotics can look like.\u003cbr/\u003eUnlike the mesmerising robotic jellyfish, the \"robo DJ's\" are regular factory robots, used in production lines around the world.\u003cbr/\u003eHere, at Worldskills, they have been given a new, funkier job - to spin CDs and dance for the crowds.\u003cbr/\u003eAnother entertaining robotics stall is provided by Middlesex University, a UK university specialising in research into Autonomous Robotic systems.\u003cbr/\u003eThey're displaying a pet robot dinosaur - longing for cuddles, and responding like a real-life pet.\u003cbr/\u003eThe Lego teaching robots have a more useful function as robotics student Michael Burke explains.\u003cbr/\u003e\"If you can learn how to program one of theses things. They come interested in one part and may find that they have a skill or a talent or an interest in another area they were not aware of,\" he says. \u003cbr/\u003eOne such example of the multiple skills required to handle robotics is the education robot Robotino: an autonomous robot that needs to be pre-programmed by students. \u003cbr/\u003eWhen it is correctly programmed, it can handle tasks assigned to it autonomously.\u003cbr/\u003eNumerous sensors, a camera and a high-performance controller provide the system with the necessary artificial intelligence. \u003cbr/\u003eTrainees use Robotino to integrate and apply lots of technical features and functions, such as electric drive engineering, kinetics, sensors, control technology, vision systems and programming techniques.\u003cbr/\u003eBob Towns explains robotics will become increasingly important in the future.\u003cbr/\u003e\"Overall we believe it (Robotics industry) will escalate in importance.
