cease-fires, officials said. \u003cbr/\u003eBut Israeli and Palestinian officials traded accusations that each side was undermining truce efforts - raising the likelihood of further fighting.\u003cbr/\u003eAbbas himself is seen as a potential target of Hamas, which has been locked in factional fighting with his Fatah movement. \u003cbr/\u003eAbbas entered the Gaza strip in a motorcade of dozens of vehicles, bristling with armed guards, while presidential security forces locked down central Gaza thoroughfares and marksmen staked out rooftop vantage points.\u003cbr/\u003eHe is expected to meet Hamas leaders to discuss efforts to halt the internecine violence as well as fighting with Israel.\u003cbr/\u003eAfter a six-month lull, Israel resumed its air-strikes on militant targets in Gaza in response to non-stop rocket attacks. \u003cbr/\u003eMore than 40 Palestinians have been killed.\u003cbr/\u003eBut the Israeli attacks have been unable to halt the dozens of rockets falling on Sderot, a town of 24-thousand residents less than two kilometres (one mile) from Gaza.\u003cbr/\u003eLate on Monday, a rocket hit a car, setting it on fire and killing a 31-year-old woman who was standing nearby, police said. \u003cbr/\u003eTwo other people were wounded. \u003cbr/\u003eThe woman was the first Israeli killed in a Qassam rocket attack since November.\u003cbr/\u003eAfter Monday's night's deadly rocket strike, Israeli defence officials said the army would step up its attacks on Palestinian militants, warning that Hamas' top leaders, including Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh, could be in danger.\u003cbr/\u003eBut Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert acknowledged there was no quick solution for the rocket barrages coming from the Gaza Strip.\u003cbr/\u003eFearing Israeli retaliation, Gaza militant groups declared a state of emergency on Monday and instituted precautions. \u003cbr/\u003eLeaders turned off their cell phones to avoid detection, limited movements
