interactive installation features hundreds of coloured LED lights and can be controlled with the touch of your hand. \u003cbr/\u003eIn a break from traditional Christmas lights, the display in the shopping area of Covent Garden is interactive. \u003cbr/\u003eThe installation consists of 568 two-metre (6.5 feet) LED tubes hanging throughout the Covent Garden piazza.\u003cbr/\u003eChris Bird, lighting designer with the company United Visual Artists (UVA) which designed the installation, describes the display.\u003cbr/\u003eMembers of the public can operate the lights by moving their hands over a touch-sensitive panel.\u003cbr/\u003eThe panel was designed by Alexander Solace, a lighting architect for UVA.\u003cbr/\u003eHe explains that the panel works by reading hand movements which then sends a signal to the LED tubes creating various lighting effects.\u003cbr/\u003eCovent Garden has a programme of events, including musical performances, to go with the installation.\u003cbr/\u003eThe series of events are free of charge and scheduled to take place in the lead-up to Christmas period and will include lighting shows and other live music events.\u003cbr/\u003eArtistic and Creative Director at Covent Garden, Ros Barclay, says she is delighted with the installation.\u003cbr/\u003eVisitors to the Convent Garden market say they love the
