Pull-out from mid of performers on stage to wide of stage \u003cbr/\u003eThe New York Philharmonic Orchestra watched an art performance by local singers and dancers in Pyongyang on Monday.\u003cbr/\u003eAPTN North Korea filmed the orchestra's president and director, Zarin Mehta, and music director, Lorin Maazel, arriving at the Mansudae Art Theatre for the performance on Monday evening, just hours after they arrived in the North Koran capital.\u003cbr/\u003eThe orchestra were invited by the Democratic Republic of North Korea's (DPRK) Ministry of Culture.\u003cbr/\u003eAPTN North Korea showed the North's Vice-Minister of Culture, Song Suk Hwan, sitting with Mehta and Maazel for the performance.\u003cbr/\u003eThe Philharmonic arrived in North Korea on Monday on a historic trip as the most prominent American cultural institution to visit the country.\u003cbr/\u003eThe orchestra accepted the North's invitation to play last year, with the encouragement of the US government, at a time of rare optimism in the long-running nuclear standoff involving the two countries. \u003cbr/\u003eNorth Korea made unprecedented accommodations for the orchestra, allowing a delegation of nearly 300 people, including musicians, staff and journalists, to fly into Pyongyang on a chartered plane and stay in the country for 48 hours.\u003cbr/\u003eDuring Monday evening's 90-minute performance, the North Korean artists showed the American visitors traditional Korean art elements such as drum dance, fan dance and ancient music instrument.\u003cbr/\u003eMembers of the orchestra said they were impressed by the talents of the performers.\u003cbr/\u003e\"We were very excited by the performance.  It was lovely to see the traditional dance of the Korean people and they're very talented,\" said oboe player Sherry Sylar.\u003cbr/\u003eThe Philharmonic's concert on Tuesday, which will feature Antonin Dvorak's Symphony Number 9 and \"An American in Paris\" by George Gershwin, will be broadcast live on North Korea's state-run TV and radio. \u003cbr/\u003eAmong the encores planned is the Korean folk song \"Arirang\", beloved in both the North and South.\u003cbr/\u003eThe performance will begin with the orchestra playing both countries' national anthems and the US and North Korean flags will stand together on stage, according to Mehta.\u003cbr/\u003eBesides giving master classes for North Korean students during their two-day stay, members of the orchestra will also play chamber
