fortunate people around the world.\u003cbr/\u003eShai Reshef said University of the People has about 150 students from 35 countries who have enrolled since the school began last week. \u003cbr/\u003eHe hopes to expand the program to include 15,000 students in four years.\u003cbr/\u003eThe university will offer two undergraduate programmes in business administration and computer science in English. \u003cbr/\u003eReshef said the specific fields of study were selected because they are easy to get jobs in once candidates have a degree. \u003cbr/\u003eReshef, who has helped develop several other Internet-based education businesses in Europe, said there are hundreds of (m) millions of people around the world who graduated from high school and could not make it to university either because they could not afford the expense, or because there are no universities where they live and they could not relocate.\u003cbr/\u003eHe spoke on the sidelines of an international economic meeting in Jordan sponsored by the Geneva-based World Economic Forum.\u003cbr/\u003eReshef acknowledged that while an online university deprives a student from face-to-face meetings, the social interaction is greater because communication with people from around the world is constant. \u003cbr/\u003eHe also said that for many young people, being on the computer is a way of life anyway, so this new way of studying simply fits their lifestyle. \u003cbr/\u003eBut for senior high school student Faris Jua'inina, who will be going to university later in the year, a said.\u003cbr/\u003eReshef, the university's founder and president, said he funded the Pasadena, California-based institution with an initial one (m) million US dollars and was hoping to raise another five (m) million US dollars from private donors. \u003cbr/\u003eHe said some of the professors are volunteering their time. \u003cbr/\u003eStudents must pay a nominal application fee up to 50 US dollars and examination fees up to 100 US dollars, he said. \u003cbr/\u003eStudents in poorer countries pay less than those in more developed countries. \u003cbr/\u003eThe university is to seek
