Wide of group performing\u003cbr/\u003eShuffle is the new dance craze sweeping malls, public parks and schools in Indonesia. \u003cbr/\u003eFor many shufflers, the dance movement is not only an outlet for their creativity, but also a smart move to make some extra cash. \u003cbr/\u003eAt this shopping mall the teenagers are dancing to a different beat. \u003cbr/\u003eThey have come to participate in a shuffle dance competition. \u003cbr/\u003eOriginated in Australia, shuffle dancing is now has a huge following among Indonesian youth since 2009.\u003cbr/\u003eAmerican pop band LMFAO has helped create the hype over shuffle dance in Indonesia by featuring it in their massively popular \"Party Rock Anthem\" music video in 2011.\u003cbr/\u003eShuffle dancing can generally be characterised by fast movement of someone's heels and toes to the tune of various types of electronic music. \u003cbr/\u003eSome arm movements usually complement the shuffling move.\u003cbr/\u003eThere are two basic moves that identify the shuffle dance. The first move is \"Running Man\" where the shuffler is seemingly running on the spot.\u003cbr/\u003eThe second basic move is \"The Shuffle\" or known as \"T-step\" where the shuffler is shifting left and right as his or her foot rises up and down.\u003cbr/\u003eIn addition, other well-known moves for shuffle pros are kick, spin, slide, jumps and many more.\u003cbr/\u003e19-year-old Firmansyah has been in a shuffle group since mid 2011. His group has won 5 awards in various shuffle competitions.\u003cbr/\u003eHis group \"The Bass Shuffle\" ranges from grade school to college students.\u003cbr/\u003eFirmansyah says, \"When we're shuffling, we move our body. We will end up sweaty just like if we are doing a sport. But with shuffle dancing, we also need to control our movement and avoid overdoing it. We must be able to follow the beat and find the balance between the movement and the music.\"\u003cbr/\u003eThe craze for shuffle dancing has also spread from public competitions to schools. \u003cbr/\u003eIn Depok, West Java, the private Cakra Buana high school has formally included shuffle dance in its after-school program since 2010. \u003cbr/\u003eThe shuffle class at the school currently has 30 active members, and they practice twice a week at the school's basketball court. \u003cbr/\u003eStudents from Cakra Buana has had the prestige of winning the national shuffle competition among schools and shuffle clubs last year.\u003cbr/\u003eA senior shuffler at the school, Rifky Afiff, said that he enjoys shuffling because the dance is both fun and healthy - and it has also given him and fellow shufflers some extra pocket money.\u003cbr/\u003eThe school's shuffle club has won over US$2,000 from various public competitions in the last 2 years.\u003cbr/\u003e\"We can be good at shuffle dance by mastering the basic moves. The people in the shuffle groups are also fun people.
