cargo ship from Oman bound for Spain.\u003cbr/\u003eMarines from the De Ruyter manned machine gun posts while the first officer Dick van der Neut, singed an escort agreement with the captain of the Jumbo Javelin, Anton van Koldam.\u003cbr/\u003eAccording the to Dutch navy website, the Jumbo Javelin - with 21 crew - asked the Dutch government for a navy escort because of the increased risk of piracy in the region.\u003cbr/\u003eDe Ruyter is based in the region to support the UN's World Food Programme and escorted six vessels loaded with food supplies over the past six months, the Dutch navy website said.\u003cbr/\u003eSeveral marines boarded the Javelin on Monday and will be on board the vessel as it sails through the Gulf.\u003cbr/\u003ePirates sailing from a number of Somali ports have attacked 32 vessels and hijacked 12 of them in the past six weeks.\u003cbr/\u003eSomalia has been in chaos for nearly two decades, and the country's Western-backed transitional government has failed to assert any real control since it was formed in 2004. \u003cbr/\u003eThe administration relies on troops from Ethiopia for protection.\u003cbr/\u003eAbout 50 cargo ships transit daily through
