against Iraq.\u003cbr/\u003eAt a corner of a Hungarian airbase at Taszar - a collection of wooden buildings and tents dubbed \"Camp Freedom\" - some of the volunteers with the Free Iraqi Forces spoke for the first time to APTN about their hopes for the future.\u003cbr/\u003eHungary authorised the US to bring 15-hundred army instructors and up to three thousand Iraqis to be trained at the base, 120 miles (193 kilometres) southwest of Budapest, provided the dissidents do not receive combat training. \u003cbr/\u003eThe first group of 50 has been training for four weeks and graduate from Camp Freedom on Friday. \u003cbr/\u003eThey next be deployed to a holding base to await possible US military action in Iraq.\u003cbr/\u003eThe US army says more volunteers have arrived at the base and will begin training this week.\u003cbr/\u003eMost of the first group of FIF volunteers have been living in North America and life at the camp is austere compared to the lives they left behind in the United States, Canada and other countries where they've sought refuge. \u003cbr/\u003eThe volunteers are not allowed to leave the base and they sleep on cots with foam mattresses inside tents and temporary buildings.\u003cbr/\u003eThe FIF trainees told APTN that they were confident that Iraqis would be able to establish a democracy and settle their differences once Saddam was deposed.\u003cbr/\u003e\"I want to free Iraq from a dictatorship, and make my people, including my family, free of Saddam Hussein,\" said a volunteer identified only as Tahib.\u003cbr/\u003eTahib, now in his fifties, fled Iraq in the 1970s and lived and worked in the US state of California until he joined the FIF.\u003cbr/\u003e\"We are going to establish a democratic society in Iraq,\" he said. \"We could solve any ethnic problem, or religious or any other nationality problem - we could solve it within a democratic society.\"\"\u003cbr/\u003eThe US army permitted APTN to see the FIF volunteers in training and speak to some of them on the condition that the men must not be identified. \u003cbr/\u003eThe army is training the FIF to be deployed in distinctive uniforms as advisors to US forces, working as guides, translators, and administrators, and to liaise between the local people, the military, and aid organisations.\u003cbr/\u003eThe army has confirmed that the volunteers have been given some small-arms training for own self-defence, but will not be deployed as combat troops.\u003cbr/\u003eUS officials would not confirm speculation that the Iraqis being trained at Taszar could form the core of a postwar administration in Baghdad if Saddam is deposed.\u003cbr/\u003eAlthough Washington reportedly is considering a plan under which the Baghdad regime would be replaced with a US-led military
