Various of classic cars driving on street\u003cbr/\u003eDozens of classic cars gathered in Havana on Sunday for a classical car rally, an event which may be considered a car enthusiast's ultimate dream. \u003cbr/\u003eImmaculately conserved, pristinely restored, with shiny grills and glistening paint jobs, more than 70 classic cars wound their way through 60 kilometres (37.2 miles) of roads in Cuba's capital city.\u003cbr/\u003eIt is only the fourth such rally held since the Cuban revolution almost 50 years ago.\u003cbr/\u003eThe rally departed from a park on Fifth Avenue in Havana's ritzy Miramar neighbourhood and criss-crossed ten municipalities throughout the day.\u003cbr/\u003eOrganised by Cuba's National Antique Car club, Havana's sports authority, and sponsored by CASTROL S.A. oil in Cuba, the rally was held to mark the 55th anniversary of the assault on the Moncada barracks in Santiago de Cuba. \u003cbr/\u003e\"For Castrol it's very important to rescue our history and preserve it. I mean, if we help in all these kinds of events we are helping to preserve our history,\" said Sales Manager of CASTROL S.A. in Cuba, Manuel Garcia. \u003cbr/\u003eThe assault, orchestrated by Fidel and Raul Castro in 1953, is considered the first act of armed rebellion against dictator Fulgencio Batista's government and the beginning of the Cuban revolution.\u003cbr/\u003eThe assault failed and the Castro brothers were captured and sentenced to long prison terms. \u003cbr/\u003eAfter serving less than two years, they were granted amnesty, only to reorganise and successfully overthrow Batista in 1959.\u003cbr/\u003eMost of the cars taking part in Sunday's rally were from the 1950s, a decade considered by many to have produced some of the best classic cars of all time. \u003cbr/\u003eAlso present were cars from the 1920s, 30s, 40s, and 60s along with 10 antique English motorbikes including Triumphs and Nortons.\u003cbr/\u003eCuba has long been a favourite haven for car collectors and enthusiasts.\u003cbr/\u003eThe island is internationally recognised as a museum on wheels; it is the country with the most antique and classic cars in use today.\u003cbr/\u003eMost of the cars on the streets in Cuba are privately owned.\u003cbr/\u003eThese cars are the only true property many Cubans own and those that were in private hands before 1959 are the only vehicles that can change hands
