It gives you a chance to ride in a manner that would be socially unacceptable on the street. So, but it's a little bit more fun and less expensive than modern road racing. the normally sleepy towns of the US state, crowding intersections, restaurants and hotels. \u003cbr/\u003eMotorbikes of all shapes and sizes have been buzzing through New Hampshire's Lakes region this week, and many local businesses give them a warm welcome with signs along the roadways.  \u003cbr/\u003eJennifer Anderson, Director of the Laconia Motorcycle Week Association says  the event's focus is on enjoying and touring New Hampshire, with many other activities to choose from. \u003cbr/\u003eIt's a one-hour drive from the mountains and the ocean, and there are several lakes close by. \u003cbr/\u003eAt the New Hampshire speedway in Loudon, south of Laconia, racers enjoyed a vintage racing event, where riders traded shiny new Harleys for older bikes like Formula 350, CB 350, Formula RD and sidecar setups. \u003cbr/\u003eCorner captains like Scott Cole helped riders navigate the course, and friends greeted each other to talk engines and pistons. \u003cbr/\u003eRaces took place one after the other for the different classes, with riders enjoying a dry track after days of rain.  \u003cbr/\u003eRace Director Peter Boucher is enthusiastic about the vintage bikes, which for him have a special charm.   \u003cbr/\u003eRacers followed waving flags at the start and finish, and organisers readied trophies for an awards ceremony later in the day. \u003cbr/\u003eThe Motorcycle week event is one of the \"big three\" of national motorcycle rallies - many bikers head to Florida's Daytona Beach for warm weather in the winter, and to Sturgis, in South Dakota, to experience the expansive landscape.   \u003cbr/\u003eAll sorts of motorcycles make it into the mix, but the most common brand at the rally is Harley-Davidson. \u003cbr/\u003ePaul Lazard of the Harley-Davidson store in Meredith, NH, says Motorcycle Week is vital to the region's economy.\u003cbr/\u003eNevertheless, bikers are feeling the impact of fuel prices. \u003cbr/\u003eBut down at Weirs Beach in Laconia, spirits were high - it was all about leather, tattoos and rumbling bikes. \u003cbr/\u003ePeople browsed clothing and food stands, compared rides and took time to relax in the long parking area reserved exclusively for motorcycles.  \u003cbr/\u003eLydia Morgan and Jim Jackson crossed much of the country, detouring major flooding in Iowa to get to the rally. \u003cbr/\u003eThe couple from North Glen, Colorado have been to motorcycle rallies in other states, but wanted to try New Hampshire for a change of scenery. \u003cbr/\u003eFriends and family members enjoyed their time together, and visitors from afar compared the local event to its counterparts in Florida and South Dakota. \u003cbr/\u003eBut regardless of the distance they travelled to get to New Hampshire, the participants
