We don't know how this started, we don't know how it's been transmitted, we're completely baffled by some cases of human infection. We don't know where they came from. There's lots of work to be done.  We don't call this a second outbreak. This is the first outbreak just continuing. We've always said it's in the environment and it will re-occur and we're seeing it now, right across large swathes of Southeast Asia.\"\u003cbr/\u003e7. Wide shot Cordingley\u003cbr/\u003eA World Health Organisation spokesman on Monday said that it was impossible to say whether the latest person to contract bird flu in Thailand caught the disease through human to human transmission. \u003cbr/\u003eThe woman, identified only as Pranom, was confirmed to have the H5N1 virus but her condition was improving, according to a Thai spokesman.   \u003cbr/\u003eAlthough she is believed to have come in contact with chickens, authorities are still investigating the possibility of human-to-human transmission.\u003cbr/\u003eSpeaking in the Philippines, WHO spokesman Peter Cordingley said the Thai government had reacted in exactly the right way to the new outbreak.\u003cbr/\u003eBut he warned that it may not be possible to ever determine what caused the infection. \u003cbr/\u003eHe also stressed that that the latest incident was not a second outbreak of the virus but rather a continuation of the first outbreak earlier this year.\u003cbr/\u003ePranom's sister, Pranee, 26, died on September 20 in a hospital near Bangkok. \u003cbr/\u003eShe is not known to have come in contact with chickens or birds, but had spent about a week in close contact with her 11-year-old daughter until the\u003cbr/\u003egirl's death in a hospital on September 12 in the northern Kamphaengphet province.\u003cbr/\u003eThe girl also had bird flu-like symptoms, but no tests could be done on her because she had already been cremated by the time officials were alerted.\u003cbr/\u003eHealth experts are worried about the possibility of the avian virus combining with a human influenza virus to create a more deadly version that could easily be spread among people - giving rise to a possible global pandemic.\u003cbr/\u003eNine people have died of bird flu in Thailand, including an 18-year-old man last month, in the latest round of the disease that began in July. \u003cbr/\u003eEight other people died earlier in the year.\u003cbr/\u003eThe disease also has killed 19 people in Vietnam, and tens of (m) millions of chickens and other birds have died or been culled throughout much of
