This was an exercise which was aimed to be carried out by the department from this year when the migration started,\" says warden, Imtiyaz Ahmad Lone.\u003cbr/\u003e\"And second objective is to know the status and the condition of the wetlands and third - most important - is to promote conservation through all this exercises to promote conservation of the wetlands.\"\u003cbr/\u003eThe birds they're counting include geese, the pintail, common teal, white-eyed pochard, gadwall, cormorant and red-crested pochard. \u003cbr/\u003eWardens aim to tour 13 main wetlands in the area, including Hokersar, Shallabug, Haigam, Mirgund, Chatlam, Fushkuri, Dal and Wular.\u003cbr/\u003eAccording to Imtiyaz Ahmad Lone, so far they've recorded some 6-thousand birds.\u003cbr/\u003e\"From September onwards, we receive these migratory birds in the wetlands of Kashmir,\" he says.\u003cbr/\u003e\"And in the month of December before this icing started, we have recorded more than 6 Lakh (600,000) birds.\"\u003cbr/\u003eWith so many birds on the move, the wardens have a unenviable task ahead of them. \u003cbr/\u003eAP Television\u003cbr/\u003eSrinagar - 19 January 2015\u003cbr/\u003e1.
