that he will support suspending the European Union''s economic sanctions on Myanmar, which are to be reviewed by the end of the month.\u003cbr/\u003eCameron spoke after meetings with the country''s reform-minded president, Thein Sein, and opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi, a longtime prisoner who was recently elected to parliament.\u003cbr/\u003eBy talking of suspending rather than lifting sanctions, Cameron made clear the move would be a provisional one which could easily be withdrawn, if judged necessary.\u003cbr/\u003e\"It will show to the regime that we respect and welcome the Myanmar very little, as it has managed to get around the embargo for years by buying military items from other suppliers, including China, North Korea and Eastern European
