But while the headlines are dominated by the dispute over cars, there are other trade quarrels brewing between the two countries.\u003cbr/\u003eOne concerns photographic film. Kodak has filed a complaint against Fuji claiming it is being kept out of the market in Japan.\u003cbr/\u003eFloor to ceiling, this Tokyo store is packed with camera film for budding photographers.\u003cbr/\u003eIt's a real passion for many and a passion that is taken very seriously. It is also big business - the amateur camera film market is worth around 20 billion (b) US dollars worldwide.\u003cbr/\u003eThe two biggest players are the American company Kodak and Fuji Photo Film of Japan.\u003cbr/\u003eDespite its dominance in other parts of the world, Kodak has only a small share in the Japanese market, about 9 percent. Fuji has 70 percent. Its customers are very loyal.\u003cbr/\u003eVOX POPS: ( Japanese)  \u003cbr/\u003e\"There is not any particular reason (why I don't buy other films). I just prefer Japanese films.\"\u003cbr/\u003e\"I only use Fuji. Fuji is easy to use.\"\u003cbr/\u003eKodak claims Fuji is denying it access to Japan's consumers by preventing distributors and retailers from selling U-S products.\u003cbr/\u003eSOUNDBITE: (English) \u003cbr/\u003e\"They (Fuji) have basically said to these companies if they don't stop carrying Kodak products they would not be supplied with Fuji products which is illegal under Japanese law. Founder George Eastman began making photographic equipment back in the 1880's.\u003cbr/\u003eThis archive footage shows Eastman with Thomas Edison trying out one of the very first hand held cameras.\u003cbr/\u003eAnd these are some of the very first production lines for photographic film.\u003cbr/\u003eKodak is now the world's leading manufacturer. Fuji is close behind.\u003cbr/\u003eThe Japanese company rejects Kodak's argument that it is locking competition out of the markets as groundless\u003cbr/\u003eIt says distributors operate independently although strong relationships have built up since Fuji opened for business 61 years ago.\u003cbr/\u003eFuji claims Kodak is filing the complaint for political motives. The U-S is currently embroiled in trade disputes with Japan in the auto and airline sectors.\u003cbr/\u003eSOUNDBITE: (Japanese) \u003cbr/\u003e\"This filing for 301 (section of 1974 Trade Act) is closely related to the air and auto issue.
