Gitui, Chief Warden Kenyan Wildlife Services\u003cbr/\u003eWildlife is the backbone of the Kenyan tourism industry, bringing in an average of 500  (m) million U-S dollars annually. \u003cbr/\u003eBut often, the animals are less than welcome to local communities.\u003cbr/\u003eFarmers and herders have in the past refused to share their land with the wild animals,  because they kill people, livestock and crops.\u003cbr/\u003eThere is little or no compensation for these incidents. \u003cbr/\u003eBut the Wildlife Service emphasises the importance of a functioning co-existence  between man and beast. \u003cbr/\u003eThey hope that their scheme to allow the locals to partake in the economic gains will  pay off. \u003cbr/\u003e\"We shall work like good neighbours, or partners with the local community who are  living around the area because the animals will move out of the park and they will be  welcome because people will be visiting the areas and they will be paying fees to them.
