The judge said it was not possible to allow home detention to...\u003c/span\u003e\n\u003cspan class='full-description hide'\u003eA judge on Tuesday denied the request by former President Alberto Fujimori to spend the rest of his 25-year prison sentence for crimes against humanity under house arrest. \u003cbr/\u003eThe judge said it was not possible to allow home detention to offenders who have violated fundamental rights.\u003cbr/\u003e\"It is deemed unfounded the request, the order to complete his remaining prison term under house arrest,\" read the statement from a court official. \u003cbr/\u003eWilliam Castillo, Fujimori's defence lawyer, told journalists they plan to appeal the decision at the Supreme Court. \u003cbr/\u003eFujimori is currently serving a 25-year sentence for corruption and the authorisation of death squads during his 1990-2000 rule.\u003cbr/\u003eHis family and supporters have been campaigning for him to be pardoned.\u003cbr/\u003eFujimori's daughter Keiko Fujimori said she was surprised by the judge's decision.\u003cbr/\u003eSpeaking outside court, she said: \"I ask, what type of danger can a 75-year-old man who has many illnesses pose? What type of danger could it pose that my father, we are not talking about liberty we are talking about house arrest, spend his last days with his family?\"\u003cbr/\u003eCastillo has argued that the former president should be allowed to serve the remainder of the sentence - which he began in 2009 - under house arrest.\u003cbr/\u003eHe has described Fujimori as a \"helpless old man\" with \"morbid depression.\"\u003cbr/\u003eBut Prosecutor Ivan Quispe argued that Fujimori's request should be denied as house arrest is not allowed by Peruvian law in this specific situation.\u003cbr/\u003eFujimori asked Peruvian President Ollanta Humala to grant him a pardon on humanitarian grounds, saying he suffers from tongue cancer and is in poor health. \u003cbr/\u003eThe government, meanwhile, has rejected the request, saying the former head of state does not suffer from a terminal or incurable disease and also that he has not shown signs of repentance.\u003cbr/\u003eOn Tuesday, a small group of Fujimori supporters calling for his release rallied outside the courtroom located within the prison where Fujimori is serving his sentence, at the Peruvian Police National Department of Special Operations (DINOES) headquarters in Lima. \u003cbr/\u003eHolding banners and posters of Fujimori, whom many supporters call \"Chino,\" sent him messages to keep his hopes up.  \u003cbr/\u003e\"Courageous Chino, your people are with you,\" they chanted.\u003cbr/\u003e1.
