Taliban, even as international forces unleash their military might.\u003cbr/\u003eBurhanuddin Rabbani, whom most foreign governments recognize as Afghanistan's legitimate president, also said that the U-S-led air strikes that began this week had not changed his forces' fundamental strategy in fighting the Taliban.\u003cbr/\u003eSpeaking at a news conference in the Tajik capital Dushanbe, Rabbani said his forces supported the international fight against terrorism.\u003cbr/\u003eHe appealed for forces under the control of the Taliban to desert and join the anti-Taliban alliance fighters, but stressed he would no longer negotiate with the Taliban.\u003cbr/\u003eRabbani thanked all those working to avert a humanitarian disaster in Afghanistan and expressed hope that the torment of the Afghan people would be short.\u003cbr/\u003eRabbani, a 61-year-old Islamic scholar and poet, was driven from Kabul in 1996 by the Taliban and he has largely lived in exile since.\u003cbr/\u003eThe forces fighting the Taliban, also called the Northern Alliance, are estimated to number no more than 15-thousand, about a third of the Taliban's apparent military manpower. \u003cbr/\u003eThey have
