(Feb. 19)\u003cbr/\u003e  Toyota''s embattled president -- Akio Toyoda -- will now testify before a congressional hearing next week where he is expected to appeal to U-S lawmakers for understanding while Toyota fixes safety problems.\u003cbr/\u003e  At first Toyoda said the company would be sending another representative to the hearings, but changed his mind after receiving a formal invitation.\u003cbr/\u003e  The world''s number one automaker is in the midst of massive recalls because of safety issues.\u003cbr/\u003e  In the past four months Toyota has recalled more than eight million vehicles worldwide because of accelerator and brake issues.  Some of the recalls involve the 20-10 Prius.\u003cbr/\u003e  Now, Toyota is investigating potential power steering problems with the popular Corolla.\u003cbr/\u003e  Toyota has promised an outside review of company operations, better handling of customer complaints and improved communication with federal officials.\u003cbr/\u003e  Akio Toyoda had originally planned to come to the United States to meet with American workers and dealers.
