I think that's one thing that really stands out in this version - that you have this mixture. You can't necessarily tell, 'Oh, that's street dance,' or, 'That's modern dance,' or, 'That's that.' Performance footage: \"Swan Lake Reloaded\"\u003cbr/\u003eIf you've watched Peter Tchaikovsky's ballet \"Swan Lake\" before it's unlikely that you would have seen it as a story about women who get addicted to heroin and turn into prostitutes.\u003cbr/\u003eBut that's exactly what Fredrik Rydman has imagined with his new interpretation, \"Swan Lake Reloaded.\"\u003cbr/\u003eThe Swedish dancer and choreographer got the idea on a trip to Camden Town in London.\u003cbr/\u003e\"I was window shopping and I saw these white furs and like hooker boots on display - the clichďż˝ picture of a prostitute - and then I thought to myself that it looks like swans at the same time, so I thought maybe that's what they are in 'Swan Lake,'\" explains Rydman.\u003cbr/\u003e\"That got me going and rolling with what part the magician who turns the girls into swans - he's obviously the pimp - and from there it really made sense to put it in that context.\"\u003cbr/\u003eIt was in 1875 that Tchaikovsky was invited by the Bolshoi theater in Moscow to compose a ballet. He had already composed the famous Swan theme for a story he had invented for his nieces and nephews. \u003cbr/\u003eHowever, choreographer Julius W Reisinger found Tchaikovsky's music very controversial and thought large parts of the music were impossible to dance to. The score went through a series of  changes until we have the score we know today.\u003cbr/\u003eRydman has also had a hand in 'mashing' up the original score by adding newly composed music by modern musicians including Adiam Dymott and Eye N'I from PH3 to Tchaikovsky's classical score. But Rydman is confident that the controversial composer would approve of his version.\u003cbr/\u003e\"He was borrowing things from here and there. He took some old things there, 'Let's take this one here, let's put something new here,' and then all of a sudden it was 'Swan Lake,' so I kind of imagine him to be like, 'Yeah, this is the way to do it, so let's go on, son.'\"\u003cbr/\u003eThe mix of street dance and classical ballet is something new, especially when performed in the hallowed halls of the London Coliseum, a building largely known for high art performances of opera and ballet, and generally an older audience. However, Rydman is delighted with the response to his visionary piece.\u003cbr/\u003e\"Very often when you do street dance things everyone's like, 'Yeah, finally we get the young crowd in the theater,' but this one doesn't appeal to only the younger ones because we had their mothers and fathers and also their grandparents come here and they all seem to enjoy the show. I think, for me, that's really important because I don't want to just turn myself to the cooler kids or whatever. If anyone enjoys dance I'm happy, you know.\"\u003cbr/\u003eAppealing to a broader audience has meant that Rydman has had to have a close look at the original \"Swan Lake\" story, one that he would argue is fairly complicated. By creating a world were tutus and traditional ballet elements are replaced by smartphones, motorized sets and special effects he brings the story bang up to date.\u003cbr/\u003eThe tale of Prince Siegfried and Odette is an iconic one, but with a plot full of twists and turns, and it is complicated. Rydman's transposition of the struggle between good and evil away from a lake at night onto the street makes the story a 21st century morality tale where desire for drugs and love play a central
