End shot of Williams walking away \u003cbr/\u003eEmmy Award-winning television personality and patient activist Montel Williams said that Israel is at the forefront of providing patient access to medical marijuana.\u003cbr/\u003eWilliams was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1999 and he has since been an outspoken advocate of medical marijuana to relieve pain caused by the disease.\u003cbr/\u003eThe former host of the popular long-running talk show \"The Montel Williams Show\" is in Israel on a fact-finding mission to learn about its medicinal cannabis practices. He is meeting with legislators, scientists and physicians and said the United States could learn from Israel how to treat marijuana just \"like any other medication that a doctor uses in their arsenal.\"\u003cbr/\u003eIn Israel, certain doctors can aprove cannabis prescriptions and disperse them to patients.\u003cbr/\u003eSixteen U.S. states have decriminalized the use of medical marijuana to some extent under state law. Critics claim dispensaries are often no more than drug trafficking fronts.\u003cbr/\u003eWilliams said he takes cannabis on a daily basis.\u003cbr/\u003e\"For me, there is nothing else that can do what it does,\" the 55-year-old said in an interview Sundays. \"It helps me supress my pain ... it suppresses the way I think about it. When I am not using cannabis I am thinking about my pair every 45 seconds. I have to check in with my pain.\"\u003cbr/\u003eHe said the drug has been \"vilified to substantiate the false reason why it was banned in the first place,\" and that he hoped it would one day become
