Close-up Tyler Hamilton on TV screen\u003cbr/\u003eThe Operation Puerto Trial continued in Madrid on Tuesday with disgraced US cyclist Tyler Hamilton one of the 'star' witnesses to give testimony.\u003cbr/\u003eOperation Puerto is the code name of a Spanish Police operation against the doping network of Doctor Fuentes. \u003cbr/\u003eThe doctor and four other defendants are facing charges that they endangered the health of cyclists by allegedly helping them to cheat through blood transfusions.\u003cbr/\u003eThe trial is limited to the health risks involved in blood transfusions, because doping was not illegal when the police began their investigations in the operation that Fuentes supposedly masterminded. \u003cbr/\u003eSpain has since strengthened its laws and an even tougher anti-doping law is working its way through parliament.\u003cbr/\u003eFuentes has denied his involvement in doping.\u003cbr/\u003e41-year-old Hamilton, whose testimony came via a satellite connection from the Spanish Embassy in Washington,  has already confirmed his collaboration with Fuentes, which he laid out in his autobiography, 'The Secret Race'.\u003cbr/\u003eHamilton insists that it was Saxo-Tinkoff team boss Bjarne Riis that initiated the first meeting between them. \u003cbr/\u003eRiis denies ever meeting Fuentes, something Hamilton has refuted, saying Fuentes and Riis were in the same room when he was present.\u003cbr/\u003eHamilton told Judge Julia Santamaria on Tuesday he paid tens of thousands of dollars a year to Fuentes.\u003cbr/\u003eHe also stated he used blood doping services about 15 times and also bought the blood booster EPO, testosterone, growth hormone and insulin from the doctor.\u003cbr/\u003eHamilton said he paid 33 to 40 thousand US dollars for the services in 2002 and 2003. \u003cbr/\u003eHe then agreed to pay 67 thousand US dollars for 2004, but was not able to complete the treatment because he tested positive for receiving someone else's blood in September 2004.\u003cbr/\u003eHamilton was stripped of his gold medal from the 2004 Athens Olympics last year after confessing to doping.\u003cbr/\u003eHis testimony is widely
