To give you an example, the viscosity is very much higher, the inflammation point is very much higher, and also the carbon residue is very much higher. Just one of those examples is the inflammation point. This is with kerosene - 80 degrees celceius to 84 degrees -  and with the plant oil around 200 (celscius) or even above. Pan down from kettle to plant oil stove\u003cbr/\u003eA cooking stove which uses plant oil as fuel was launched recently in the Philippines.  \u003cbr/\u003eThe Protos plant oil stove, a joint project by the German home appliance manufacturer Bosch and Siemens Hausgerate (BSH) and the Leyte State University, hopes to solve the problem faced by millions of people in developing countries who still prepare food on open fires which exposes them to serious health hazards. \u003cbr/\u003eThe Protos plant oil stove is being introduced in the Philippines as a new cooking stove that can run on oil harvested from plants. It is essentially similar to the functions of a kerosene pressure stove, except that it can utilize different kinds of plant oils as fuel instead of kerosene.  \u003cbr/\u003eThe German home appliance manufacturer Bosch and Siemens Hausgerate GmbH, or BSH, teamed up with the Leyte State University in 2004 to begin the promotion of the plant oil stove in the country.\u003cbr/\u003eSince the Philippines is a leading producer of coconut oil and has millions of coconut trees, coconut oil was chosen as fuel for the plant oil stoves distributed for field trials among 100 families in Leyte.\u003cbr/\u003eA plant oil processing center was set up by Doctor Roberto Guarte inside the campus of the Leyte State University.  A cooperative-based oil processing center was also established in the village of Ciabu in Baybay, Leyte.   \u003cbr/\u003eGuarte explains how the coconut oil is extracted from the dried coconut meat.\u003cbr/\u003e\"The dried (coconut) meat which is now called copra is cut into pieces by the hammer mill. Among the things she had already gotten used to in operating the stove is putting a small amount of denatured alcohol in the pre-heating dish and wait awhile before it heats up the vaporizer.  Another is the use of the foot pump to introduce air into the tank to increase the pressure.  But she still needs to learn how to control the flame with the regulator valve.\u003cbr/\u003ePelicano, who bought the plant oil stove at a promotional price of one thousand pesos (US$19.60), says she gets to save on money by using coconut oil to fuel the stove.  She said that a gallon of plant oil she bought for one hundred pesos (US$1.90) two months ago has not been used up.\u003cbr/\u003eOne of the features Pelicano loves most about her new stove is that it doesn''t emit any fumes at all, unlike when she used to cook with firewood which fills her house with smoke and turns it black from soot.\u003cbr/\u003e\"Now there''s none (black smoke).
