The main subjects we discussed of course were, first of all, Iraq, where the Secretary of State another time has confirmed that the United States administration is trying to keep on the UN track, trying to build a Security Council resolution. The Secretary of State repeated that it was a matter of weeks rather than months of course that such a resolution should come about. Discussions are going on within the framework of the United Nations. Secondly, we discussed the Middle East and what happened in Ramallah over the weekend. We very much agreed, as on Iraq, by the way, on the fact that, as I also explained in a telephone conversation I had with Foreign Minister Peres yesterday morning, to ask, to urge the Israeli government for restraint, and that was the message that was conveyed to the Israeli government as well by the US administration.\"\u003cbr/\u003e5. Wide shot of Scheffer, he walks away\u003cbr/\u003eDutch Foreign Minister Jaap de Hoop Scheffer met US Secretary of State Colin Powell in Washington on Monday. \u003cbr/\u003eAfter the meeting, Scheffer said Powell reiterated US plans to seek a United Nations resolution on action against Iraq, adding that Powell also expressed some urgency in the timing of such a resolution.\u003cbr/\u003eScheffer said the two also discussed the latest Israeli assault on Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat's compound in Ramallah. He said the US and the Netherlands both expressed their concerns about the escalating situation to Israeli officials over the weekend, and he said both countries pressed for Israeli
