neighbourhood museum.\u003cbr/\u003eThe Museum of Jewish Heritage is just six blocks south-west of ground zero, formerly in the shadows of the twin towers.\u003cbr/\u003eThe area was covered with debris and ash after the towers collapsed on September 11.\u003cbr/\u003eNew York Governor George Pataki said at the ceremony that the museum's reopening was an important symbol for the city.\u003cbr/\u003eNew York Senator Hillary Clinton also spoke, saying Friday's event marks an important step in the city's return to normal life.\u003cbr/\u003eOutside the museum, security was tight as police and Coast Guard boats continued to patrol New York's harbour.\u003cbr/\u003eThe tourist attractions of the Statue of Liberty Island and Ellis Island remain closed.\u003cbr/\u003eAnd in the park where the Statue of Liberty ferry normally departs, a military camp has taken over.\u003cbr/\u003eNational Guard troops continue to use the park as a base and staging ground.\u003cbr/\u003eCloser to ground zero clean-up efforts continue.\u003cbr/\u003eThe lobby of the Hilton Hotel was slowly getting patched up.\u003cbr/\u003eAnd the destruction to the area's subway lines is now becoming clear.\u003cbr/\u003eGiant steel beams from the towers pierced some subway tunnels during the collapse, leaving more than a mile of track in need of extensive repairs.\u003cbr/\u003eOn Thursday, the city provided a daunting update on the economic fallout.\u003cbr/\u003eThe attacks could cost the New York economy 100 (b) billion dollars over the next two years.\u003cbr/\u003eAt the site, labourers continued to dig by hand for bodies and evidence.\u003cbr/\u003eAlthough the skyscrapers contained millions of square feet of office space, crews are finding no desks, telephones, computers or fax
