Arab League said Monday.\u003cbr/\u003eAmr Moussa said in a speech at the U.S.-Arab Economic Forum in Detroit also said the return of stability to Iraq is \"absolutely vital\" to continued economic development in the Middle East. \u003cbr/\u003eAmr Moussa also stressed the economic importance of finding a peaceful solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.\u003cbr/\u003eAlso on Monday, U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell asked hundreds of Arab government and international business leaders to help build a new Middle East that is peaceful, prosperous and free.\u003cbr/\u003ePowell addressed a heads of state dinner at the U.S.-Arab Economic Forum. \u003cbr/\u003eParticipants of the forum include high-level officials from Saudi Arabia, Egypt and other Arab states, as well as chief executives of many leading corporations.\u003cbr/\u003ePowell encouraged investments in and financial commitments to the Middle East by businesses and the international community. \u003cbr/\u003eAnd he said there have been successes in the movement toward a new Middle East, including the removal of the Taliban from power in Afghanistan and the continuing fight against al-Qaida.\u003cbr/\u003eHe also spoke of setbacks in efforts to end the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and urged both sides to get the peace process back on track. \u003cbr/\u003ePowell called on Palestinian leaders to curb terrorism and on Israeli leaders to end settlement building and ease living conditions for Palestinian people.\u003cbr/\u003eThe forum kicked off Sunday with a gala dinner, where Governor Jennifer Granholm and others expressed hope that economic ties could bridge differences with the Arab world.\u003cbr/\u003eDetroit was chosen as the host city because, with an estimated 300,000 Arab-Americans, the area is home to one of the nation's largest concentrations of people with roots in the Middle East.\u003cbr/\u003eThe forum was originally scheduled for May, but was pushed
