And certainly this is the breeding, excuse me, this is the birthing season for giant pandas both at the Wu Long Breeding Center, where Mei Xiang and Tian Tian were born, and the beginning of the birthing season in the wild.  In fact there are at least three cubs born at Wu Long as we speak and there may be even more because this is where they start to be born.  So we are sort of not just celebrating this pair but all giant pandas and kind of kicking off a whole month of not just looking at pandas but understanding what are some of the science and research questions we need to answer and how can we help protect them in the wild.\"\u003cbr/\u003e8. If you take a look at them, they are a good weight and they are back together again so we are happy about that.  We separated them right before their breeding season and right after because there was a little bit of aggression between the two of them and which we basically think is just young pandas learning how to deal with breeding behaviour, which is a very different breeding behaviour.  It only happens once a year - so now that that's past - the breeding season here will probably be May each year, they are back together and we are happy about that.\" \u003cbr/\u003e11. Close-up Mei Xiang with ice\u003cbr/\u003eWashington D.C.'s National Zoo threw a party for its most famous residents on Thursday.\u003cbr/\u003eThe zoo's two giant pandas Mei Xiang (MAY ZHIHNG) and Tian Tian (tee-YAHN' tee-YAHN') are having a month long celebration. Mei Xiang actually turned four last Monday, while Tian Tian turns five on August 27th. Zoo officials picked a halfway point to celebrate their births.\u003cbr/\u003eZoo Director Lucy Spelman says the zoo is taking the entire month of August to recognize the birthdays of all giant pandas.\u003cbr/\u003eZoo officials marked the event with a cake decorated with replicas of the pandas and bamboo and thousands of zoo-goers in attendance each got a slice.\u003cbr/\u003eTian Tian slept in his air conditioned grotto during the ceremony, while Mei Xiang munched on a big block of ice with fruit in the middle.\u003cbr/\u003eSpelman says the pandas are maturing, and because of
