week temporarily could not send commands to Spirit through its high-gain antenna, after the rover''s mast unexpectedly cast a frigid shadow over motors that control the lollipop-shaped antenna and kept it from being oriented toward Earth.\u003cbr/\u003eControllers were unable to command the rover to continue its journey toward a crater, so it remained parked overnight Tuesday.\u003cbr/\u003eCommunications did continue through a low-gain antenna, and after figuring out the problem, NASA was able to order Spirit to resume its trek on Thursday, covering about 79 feet.\u003cbr/\u003eIn a crater on the other side of Mars, Opportunity was in the midst of scooting along an outcrop, photographing it and picking specific targets scientists wanted to revisit and
