Scenes like these fuel the argument that  silicone implants should not be used until they are proven safe. The Food and Drug  Administration in America placed severe restrictions on their use three years ago.\u003cbr/\u003eNo one will ever convince 32 year old Christine McCarthy that implants are safe.  She  had a mastectomy 11 years ago after a breast infection.  Since her silicone implant she  has had several medical problems.\u003cbr/\u003eChristine is now unable to walk without the aid of crutches.  A year ago she lost the  use of her legs. Physiotherapy has helped, but she is angry she ever had an implant.\u003cbr/\u003eSOUNDBITE:' A specialist took one look and told me it has ruptured and told I needed  the implant removed. I went in June last year to have it done because we were getting  married in the October. Certainly there is no evidence they cause breast  cancer. The scar tissue forms and grips it.  So within six weeks my implant had been  gripped by the scar tissue.
