The official theme was 'Don't Cry For Me Fashionistas' but the underlying message seemed to be that everything, and everyone, is beautiful. Attendees were provided with the lyrics of a song written by Ray Stevens, entitled 'Everything is Beautiful,' which includes the lines:\u003cbr/\u003e\"Everything is beautiful in its own way/Like a starry summer night or a snow covered winter's day\"\u003cbr/\u003eThe Gibraltar born designer chose models from all walks of life to present his collection - big and small, old and young, overweight and skinny all joined the show. A waiter accompanied a Japanese princess, a Marilyn Monroe look-alike paraded down the catwalk with an old soldier and an obese woman was paired with a muscle man. The overwhelming spectacle drew attention away from the clothes. \u003cbr/\u003eAt the conclusion of the show, a miniature puppet of the designer came out to take his bow ahead of Galliano whose collection received a mixed response. Some members of the audience provided a standing ovation, while others had a more muted response to a show which some perceived as exploitative.\u003cbr/\u003eIngrid Sischy, editor-in-chief  \"Interview\" magazine fell into the former category, saying:\u003cbr/\u003e\"I think that you know to pull that off without exploiting anyone is almost impossible, you know and you almost felt the discomfort on the part of the audience at the beginning, including myself and then it became so clear that the guy's consciousness about all the difficult issues was right on, you know, and as it built it was beyond not exploiting anyone, it was a true true vision.\"\u003cbr/\u003eGalliano won the title British Designer of The Year in 1987, 1994, and 1995. In 1997, he shared the award with Alexander McQueen, his successor at Givenchy.
