Close up of journalist \u003cbr/\u003eAbout three hundred unarmed Kikuyus gathered at the Kenya Research Forestry Institute, on Wednesday, to demand that a couple of hundred Luo people working there leave the area.\u003cbr/\u003eKikuyus went on the offensive after suffering most of the violence that followed a disputed presidential vote. \u003cbr/\u003eThe crowd set ablaze a field of grass that was part of an animal feed research project. \u003cbr/\u003eWorkers from Kenya's Luo, Luhyia and Kalenjin tribes said Kikuyu tribe people were after them. They were seen putting down fires they claim were caused by Kikuyus.\u003cbr/\u003e\"They have come to revenge upon us and they have surrounded us but we thank God that the police have come, but we do not know if they are going to help us,\" said a Luhyia worker.\u003cbr/\u003e\"I think they are trying to burn this place. You can see there is fire all over, and the guys are here, you can just see there,\" said one man running from the Kikuyus burning the fields nearby.\u003cbr/\u003eKenyan police firing rifles clashed with the Kikuyu protesters away from the area and removed burning tyres set up as road blocks.\u003cbr/\u003eAP Television images also showed police escorting a bus full of women and children out of the institute. They were burned and bore slash wounds from machetes.\u003cbr/\u003eIn the Rift Valley, an Associated Press reporter saw the charred body of a Kikuyu killed on Wednesday in an outlying shantytown of Kisumu. \u003cbr/\u003eA witness said a crowd of Luos had demanded the man's Identification card, determined from his name he was Kikuyu and killed him. Another charred body, also Kikuyu, lay in the street of a neighbouring shantytown.\u003cbr/\u003eMany Kikuyus have been driven from the Rift Valley. Now, some Kikuyu are seeking revenge.\u003cbr/\u003eHuman rights groups and others accuse politicians of orchestrating the violence.\u003cbr/\u003eKikuyus are Kenya's largest ethnic group, about 22 percent of the population of 38 (m) million, and patronage politics have given them an edge over other tribes.\u003cbr/\u003eAnalyst and Historian, Ben Ole Kantai said that \"the bigger issue is to ask whether this country, like most countries, is going to territorialise its land or whether it is going to regard Kenya as one open country for everybody to settle wherever they want to settle.\"\u003cbr/\u003eKenya's once-thriving tourist economy has been devastated by the crisis and tens of thousands of workers have lost their jobs.\u003cbr/\u003eMeanwhile, the US State Department said on Wednesday it is too early to determine that post-election violence in Kenya constitutes \"ethnic cleansing\" and suggested a review of US aid to the country would not result in significant cuts. \u003cbr/\u003eIn comments that backed away from an assessment by the top US envoy for Africa, spokesman Sean McCormack acknowledged the situation in Kenya, especially in western provinces, was serious, but had not yet been characterised as ethnic cleansing by the Bush administration.\u003cbr/\u003eEarlier Wednesday in Ethiopia, Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Jendayi Frazer said that some of the violence in Kenya, which exploded after disputed elections last month and has claimed more than 800 lives, amounted to \"ethnic cleansing\" as it targeted members
