Zoom out of manicurist using black polish endorsed by pop singer Katy Perry\u003cbr/\u003eIt's the hottest beauty craze today.\u003cbr/\u003eCelebrity inspired and endorsed nail polish is booming business and the style is bold and bling.\u003cbr/\u003eInstant fun and instant gratification.\u003cbr/\u003eIn an age when it's getting harder to splash the cash, nicely turned out nails are relatively inexpensive and hugely popular.\u003cbr/\u003eEspecially as stars from the world of pop music and the silver screen are lining up to endorse styles that coincide with their image.\u003cbr/\u003eSinger Katy Perry's collection has four colours that include 'Teenage Dream' inspired by her hit song and whimsical personal style. \u003cbr/\u003eJustin Beiber's, 'One Less Lonely Girl' range is based on his hit song.\u003cbr/\u003eIn America is was in such demand that it sold out in every branch of the giant, Walmart stores in less than 60 days. \u003cbr/\u003eCher's recent 'Burlesque Collection' has colours contrived to look like glittering jewels, even tennis champion Serena Williams is getting in on the act.\u003cbr/\u003eNail polish has been the luxury choice during the recession of the last few years according to manufacturers in the industry.\u003cbr/\u003eDuring tough economic times, lipstick has always been the cost-conscious indulgence, but now it is nail polish.\u003cbr/\u003eAccording to Cyndy Drummey, of the trade magazine Nails, lipstick sales in 2009 dropped by more than 5 per cent, but polish sales soared by 15%, \u003cbr/\u003eJessica Kinni, Los Angeles based model says she's cost conscious, but will never give up treating her nails to a manicure. She has a manicure once every three weeks. \u003cbr/\u003eShe says: \"I try to be extra careful with my manicures and try to get the most of out of them. I generally go for more of a fun manicure. I like to try whatever the new trend is. Whether it might be flattering on me or not, I need to try I need to make my own decisions.\"\u003cbr/\u003eAccording to Drummey $6.3 billion (USD) is spent each year in salons alone. \u003cbr/\u003eShe says: \"That's strictly money consumers are spending in the nail salon. Just from a year to year comparison it's about a four per cent increase over last year despite the fact that we've had recessionary times over the last years we have barely seen any real dips in the nail business.\"\u003cbr/\u003eDrummey believes it's also because women want to match the light and dark colours which are so popular today, whereas lips colours are still pink, red, peach and neutral tones.\u003cbr/\u003eShe claims that last year, nail polish sales were up 14.3 percent and she argues it's the only sector in the beauty industry that's seen growth during the recession.\u003cbr/\u003eDrummey believes popularity of manicures has soared because it's easier for all women to have good nails.\u003cbr/\u003eImprovements in beauty technology means even false ones can look classy and classical.\u003cbr/\u003eShe says: \"They were classically what you would think of as fake nails, they were gaudy looking and they were tacky and they just didn't look real now whether it's artificial products or tips or anything they look gorgeous.\" \u003cbr/\u003eOPI Products Inc. was founded thirty years ago and it claims to be one of the world's leading brands.\u003cbr/\u003eIt also claims to have been first to develop the celebrity rush to endorse this type of beauty product.\u003cbr/\u003eThe business has been so successful that last year perfume company Coty paid $1 billion (USD) to buy it. \u003cbr/\u003eIn the company laboratory outside north Hollywood a team of scientists continue to explore colours and treatments to make the nails more durable.\u003cbr/\u003eCo-Founder Suzie Weiss-Fischmann is Executive Vice-President and Artistic Director.\u003cbr/\u003eShe says nail polish is big business today and the most affordable way for women get a new look.\u003cbr/\u003e\"A woman can buy a bottle of nail colour and make herself feel good.
