Collard and Jeanine Lelouch shaking hands as he is queues to board plane\u003cbr/\u003eFrench lawyers representing members of the charity Zoe's Ark, who were last week detained in Chad, left Paris for the Chadian capital of N'Djamena, on Tuesday. \u003cbr/\u003eSix French charity workers, who tried to send 103 children they claimed were orphans from Darfur on a plane to France, have been charged with kidnapping and face up to 20 years hard labour if convicted.\u003cbr/\u003eIn addition, three Spanish crew and the Belgian pilot of the plane were being held on accessory charges. \u003cbr/\u003eFrench President Nicolas Sarkozy said on Tuesday he wants to bring the aid workers back, despite stiff resistance from Chadian authorities.\u003cbr/\u003eSpeaking to reports at Paris Charles de Gaulle International Airport, Gilbert Collard, one of the lawyers, said that Sarkozy should take action immediately.\u003cbr/\u003eSarkozy made a surprise visit to the former French colony on Sunday and negotiated the release of three journalists and four Spanish flight\u003cbr/\u003eattendants detained with the aid workers. \u003cbr/\u003e\"Why he didn't bring them back at the same time as he brought back the journalists,\" queried Collard.\u003cbr/\u003e\"We are happy, that the journalists have been released but everybody had been charged with the same accusations. We do not leave in good condition because of the TV documentary,\" he said. \u003cbr/\u003eThe footage, shot by cameraman Marc Garmirian of the Paris-based Capa Presse agency who was one of the three French journalists arrested along with the members of Zoe's Ark, shows one charity worker screening children brought by tribal elders to the group's centre in eastern Chad. \u003cbr/\u003eSpeaking through translators, she demands neither details nor basic documentation.\u003cbr/\u003eAsked if she could be mistaken on even the basic facts, such as whether individual children were Chadian or Sudanese, or whether they were indeed orphans, she acknowledges she could be wrong.\u003cbr/\u003eIn other scenes, the charity workers wrap the children's heads and limbs in gauzy bandages, dousing some of them with iodine to make them look, in the words of one worker, like \"war casualties.\"\u003cbr/\u003eThe footage comes to an abrupt end when the Chadian authorities arrest the charity workers.\u003cbr/\u003eGarmirian returned to France after Sarkozy negotiated his release along with two other French journalists and four Spanish flight attendants.\u003cbr/\u003eThe parents of Emilie Lelouch, one of the Zoe's Ark members detained were also at the airport to say goodbye to Gilbert Collard. \u003cbr/\u003e\"We remain very sceptical about the fate of those innocent French compared to the big economic interests at stake.
