Pan from Lebanese police car to emergency car \u003cbr/\u003eLebanese security troops have removed the remains of 25 bodies from a mass grave in the eastern Bekaa Valley town of Anjar, near the former headquarters of Syrian military intelligence in Lebanon, security officials said on Saturday.\u003cbr/\u003eThe Anjar site was notorious for the arrest and torture of prisoners.\u003cbr/\u003eSecurity troops on Saturday barred journalists from approaching the grave site, only allowing them to take pictures of them refilling the earth pit after their work was done. \u003cbr/\u003eJournalists, however, saw security troops collecting the remains in at least 12 black bags. \u003cbr/\u003eThe remains were taken for DNA testing, the officials said. \u003cbr/\u003eThe identities of the bodies were not immediately clear. \u003cbr/\u003eBut at least one of the bodies belonged to a Lebanese soldier, identified as such by his uniform.\u003cbr/\u003eThe bodies were found by local residents, who informed Lebanese authorities, said the officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorised to speak to the media.\u003cbr/\u003eThe remains, including bones, teeth and skulls, were taken from the mass grave on the Nabi Azir hilltop position formerly occupied by Syrian soldiers, about one kilometre (0.6 miles) from the former Anjar headquarters.\u003cbr/\u003eOne official said the persons that were buried in the grave appeared to have been killed in October 1990 during the Syrian military offensive that defeated Christian-commanded units of the Lebanese army under Michel Aoun, removing the last holdout against Syrian dominance of  Lebanon.\u003cbr/\u003eSyria was the main power broker in Lebanon until early this year, when public sentiment turned against it in the wake of the February 14 assassination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri, for which many blamed Damascus. \u003cbr/\u003eSyria denies it had anything to do with Hariri's assassination, but a UN probe into the killing has implicated top Syrian officials.\u003cbr/\u003eSyrian troops withdrew from Lebanon in April after a 29-year military presence.\u003cbr/\u003eThe
